The Law to ban the sale of assault rifles and magazines holding 12+ rounds has been postponed until 2021. Sen. Creigh Deeds, D-Bath, considered postponing the bill for a year and having the Virginia State Crime Commission study its definitions of what qualifies as an assault weapon. The other 3 Senators who joined Deeds were Sens Chap Peterson, D-Fairfax, Scott Surovell, D-Fairfax, and John Edwards, D-Roanoke - in voting the motion to continue the bill to 2021.
For the people who don't know much about guns, it would be easy to attach any firearm that has a large magazine capacity and the capability to fire semi-automatic rounds. This is what that proposed law entailed concerning the ban on assault weapons in the State of Virginia. Many other Democratic Senators were pissed off about the voted decision. We'll need to wait another year to see what happens.
