The innovative Liu chinese prototype was to be the semi-automatic rifle that China planned to arm itself with during the 1930's, but the boat carrying the machinery sunk. China remained at the bolt-action technology level for military rifles throughout World War II and Korea. It's a shame, since that 7.62 round would have allowed them to level up on power.
The rifle never received any other designation and was named after General Liu Qing En. I'm not sure it this is true or not, but it's said to be China's first semi-auto rifle. Manufactured between 1914-1918 mainly in the U.SA. Yup..Hartford, Connecticut to be exact. Here's a link to one that sold for $34,500 back in 2018.
