Buying your girlfriend her first firearm

So your girlfriend has asked you to buy her a gun. She admits to not knowing a damn thing about them, but insists that the gun has to look nice. For a lot of guys out there, this might be the latest dummy mission their lady has sent them on. The biggest task is gaining a good understanding what feels like in her hands. Solving this is 75% of the battle.

Today my girlfriend and I visited a local gun show. It was my millionth time at one and her first. She's been itching to shoot a gun for the first time. I figured what the hell..it's best she touch as many guns as possible to get an overall feel. What better place to be able to just grab a gun to check it out than at a gun show. This was a large one. It happened to be at our local raceway, which is the largest gun show in town. Outside of showing my girl a thing or two about guns, I myself hadn't been to one all year. I wanted to see what new and past models were sitting around.

My girlfriend had a great time. This was her first time seeing all the smiles and great people you get to meet at firearm events. In my introduction to her getting to know guns I felt she should just pick up the guns she liked. See how the feel in her hands and then we would eventually take test shoots at the gun range. There were three gun models that she absolutely loved. The Glock 42/43, Sig Sauer P238 and Ruger SP101. She felt like they connected with her hands the best. One of the most fasinating finds at the show was an 85% scale 1911 .380 acp Browning. Both she and I was in love with this gun. Imagine the full 1911 balanced feeling...just 15% less in every way. Check out the browning link above for more information about model configurations for this fun. I've sure as hell added it to my list of "go get" guns. Check out the video below of Hickok45 and his review of the Browning 1911 380.
