The chiappa rhino 50D plays lead role in divergent movie

Actress Shailene Woodley plays the leading female role as Tris. A divergent living in a society separated by factions based on virtues. She's special in that her temperaments allow her to choose any faction unlike everyone else. Point blank, the smart ones are in one group and the brave fearless ones are in another. Everyone knows where they belong except for Tris....

Like any other action movie and gun lover, I try to always figure out the type of weapons that are being used. The other star of the movie doesn't appear for some time in the film. The Chiappa Rhino is so distinctive in it's design. It can be easily spotted in the film by "four", the male lead in the movie. He's apart of

the faction called Dauntless which are the soldiers/daredevil/tough crew. The plot thickens, Tris becomes the holy grail and war starts. And this guys is where the main star of the films comes out shining. Four is shown in the film handling the revolver as well as some other characters. So what is this Chiappa Rhino 50DS I'm speaking of?

The chiappa rhino is a six-shot aluminum frame with steel internal parts revolver. Though that sounds like the average revolver the design for the chiappa is slightly different. The barrel is positioned in a 6 'o' clock instead of the normal 12 'o' clock position. The gun fires from the lowermost chamber of the cylinder. This allows for the recoil to move back into the hand instead of making the gun go up like in most weapons today. That my friends is a huge game changer in the revolver world. I'm not sure they ever mention what caliber was used in the movie. I'd have to say that since it is a "futuristic" movie they were shooting something more futuristic haha. Chiappa firearms introduced the rhino in 2009 by two native Italians named Emilio Ghisoni and Antonio Cudazzo. The gun was a follow up design to Ghisoni's Mateba autorevolver, as well as his last design before his death in 2008. Mateba revolver are highly collectable and sell for between $3,000-$5,000 dollars. Good luck finding one online, cause they are never in store. You should check gunbroker.com to see if any are up for auction. Above is a visual of what some model Mateba's look like. The highest production model is the 6 Unica.

If your in the market for a new chiappa rhino your in luck. They are usually not hard to find. They are as available today as they were 5 years ago when I was looking. Here's a link the the exact model from the movie on budsgunshop.com. They go for $800-$900 dollars currently. I've added some pictures of the Chiappa in different barrel lengths, calibers and finishes. You can also check the specs for the gun here, along with the accessories.
